Glen was looking for a decent model of an interlocking tower to use as base to kitbash a replica of the Pittston Junction tower for his home layout. He wasn’t initially very happy with the AHM Interlocking Tower model, especially its ochre and dark brown paint scheme, but he figured that if he added the prototypical valley sunshade/awning and repainted the walls, it would be a “close enough” stand-in.
Before assembly, he repainted the parts with Polyscale paints, using Lackawanna gray for the walls and Guilford gray for the trim, stairway and roof. The sunshade was made with matte board, scribed to give the effect of wooden boards, and then painted to match the roof color.
